Instead of Setting Resolutions in the New Year, Set Achievable Goals.
When it comes to New Year’s resolutions, we’ve all been guilty of setting our sights on changing an aspect of our lives without using attainable, measurable goals. This makes it far more challenging to create any real change, if we make any effort at all. In 2022, lets focus on small lifestyle adjustments to help you see lasting results, specifically if your resolution contains health + wellness goals.
1. Exercise. One of the troubles with setting fitness goals at the beginning of the year in the Midwest is the weather. It’s hard to get motivated and active when it’s below freezing outside. There are plenty of ways to get creative and find ways to move your body indoors, like joining a group fitness class or incorporate weight lifting into your routine. If you’re not sure where to begin, a personalized training program from one of our team members is a great way to get started and see a difference.
2. Eat clean. Eating healthy can sometimes seem overwhelming. Making small changes like limiting carbohydrate intake, upping your protein and vegetable intake, and cutting down on processed foods are simple yet effective ways to begin evolving your habits. As you get more comfortable with eating healthy frequently, you can start looking into meal planning + prepping, as well as tracking your intake.
3. Get some rest. People don’t often realize what an integral part sleep can play in your overall physical health and appearance. Focus on getting yourself on a consistent sleep schedule, including weekends, to start feeling a difference. More energy + focus can help not only with your health but all aspects of your life. If you struggle with falling asleep at night, try putting your phone and electronics away at least an hour before bed, relax with a book or a bath, and create a routine your body can get used to.
4. Eliminate stress. Mental health plays a very important role in your overall wellbeing, including your physical health. When you’re feeling overly stressed out, your body’s cortisol levels increase, which overtime can cause weight gain and slower recovery time. There are ways to address stress issues in your life. Try writing in a daily journal, meditating, or finding a new hobby that relaxes you. If you’re still struggling, a doctor may be able to help determine a cause and solution.
When you set small goals and meet them consistently, your body will thank you. You will begin to see the results you’ve been looking for. Pair the above items together and you have a recipe for success. If you’re looking for guidance, our team of professionals are all trained in specific areas to ensure you are in the right hands to reach your goals affectively.
